THE Zhejiang provincial government will invest 80 billion yuan (US$11.66 billion) this year to upgrade local highways and expressways, and increase their average driving speed by 10 percent and 30 percent respectively.
The upgrade project will cover 220 kilometers of highways and 200 kilometers of expressways, including the widening of the Hangzhou-Jinhua section of G60 Expressway. The project is scheduled for completion before the end of 2017.
Meanwhile, work will start on Lin’an-Jinhua Highway, the western section of Raocheng Highway, and other roads totaling 2,600 kilometers to improve traffic across the province.
