School holidays
SCHOOLS in nine Hangzhou districts will start their new semester on September 8 after the G20 summit meeting in the city, the municipal government announced last week.
Approval from national and provincial governments, Hangzhou adjusted holiday arrangement for government departments, schools and social organizations during September 1 to 7 to reduce traffic as foreign delegations and journalists are in the city for this year’s G20 summit.
The holiday arrangement will cover Shangcheng, Xiacheng, Jianggan, Gongshu, Xihu, Binjiang, Xiaoshan, Yuhang and Fuyang districts. The West Lake Scenic Area and Hangzhou Economic and Development Zone are included. Tonglu, Chun’an, Jiande and Lin’an will not be affected by the plan, which creates a long public holiday from September 1 to 7 by turning August 28, September 10 and 11 into workdays.
