Sharing Italian and Swiss art, culture and travel
A free lecture about Italian culture and a concert by a Swiss pianist and vocalist charmed an audience at the Hangzhou Public Library over the weekend.
Giorgio Casacchia, the cultural attache of the Italian Consulate General in Shanghai, gave a talk titled "Fascinating Apennine - Stories of Italy."
"The purpose of the lecture is sharing interesting Italian culture with the audience and inviting Chinese to travel in Italy," says Casacchia, who discussed geography, history, anthropology, culture and politics.
"Visiting Italy is very gratifying because within a few tens of kilometers, everything changes substantially," he says.
The talk was part of the "World Style" series lectures of the "Wenlan Forum," which was established by the library and aims to be a bridge between experts and the public. "World Style" presents foreign culture and an intercultural lifestyle.
Also at the library, pioneering Swiss pianist and vocalist Nicolas Fraissinet gave a concert over the weekend.
It was part of "ARRIVE Smart Talk" hosted by ARRIVE magazine and the library, supported by Consulate General of Switzerland in Shanghai.
Fraissinet shared his childhood and musical journey, saying he felt the urge to tell stories since his childhood. He played the piano and later sang with his musical partners.
The Hangzhou stop was the first China tour for Fraissinet who also toured Shanghai and Beijing.
The Swiss Embassy in China aims to present that nation's diverse culture to the Chinese public and promote young Swiss artists who showcase dynamic and contemporary Swiss culture.
"Smart Talk" invites pioneering artists both in China and overseas to share their work in art, music, theater, video, literature and other media and genre.
