Shorter trips coming

THE Hangzhou-Changsha high-speed railway, slated to open later this year, will shorten trip times to popular tourist destinations like Guilin and Fenghuang.

Hangzhou travelers spend about 20 hours by train to Huaihua in Hunan Province and then need to take a bus to Fenghuang, a quaint town hidden in the mountains. The new railway can cut the trip to about six hours.

A trip from Hangzhou to Guilin, a city famous for its karst mountains in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, will be shortened to less than seven hours, from about 20 hours now.
