Silk relics on display
Nearly 140 silk relics will be exhibited at West Lake Museum from tomorrow to October 15. They are on loan from 26 museums in Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Shaanxi, Gansu and Qinghai provinces as well as Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
The exhibition offers a glimpse of Silk Road trade in ancient times and is the most important show in Hangzhou this year, said Zhao Feng, the museum’s curator.
“It will be the first exhibition on the history of the Silk Road ever held in China,” Zhao said. The Silk Road was added to the UNESCO World Heritage list in June.
He said the exhibition is supported by the State Administration of Cultural Heritage and the Zhejiang government.
