Two visual effects companies founded a college in Zhejiang Province recently to address a shortage of special effects technicians in the country鈥檚 film industry.
Beijing-based Phenom Films Company and Hangzhou-based Movie Park Education Company teamed up to establish the college on the campus of Zhejiang Economic and Trade Vocational College in Jinhua City. Veteran special effects technicians from the two companies will teach at the college. One third of them are foreign experts from the US, Canada, South Korea and Britain. The college will begin its first semester this autumn and will enroll 300 students each year.
Phenom Films Company has been involved in the production of many films including 鈥淓xpendables III,鈥 鈥淭he Girl with the Dragon Tattoo鈥 and 鈥淕reen Lantern.鈥
