Stage plays to commemorate Lu Xun
TO mark Lu Xun's great contributions to China's literature, art and social development, Zhejiang Art Library's International Conference Hall is presenting three dramas.
The first play last Sunday, "Little Society," was presented by Shanghai-based grassroots drama club The Grass Stage. The thought-provoking drama showed hopes and misfortunes of the grassroots people in society. The museum will continue to offer two plays on the coming two Sunday afternoons. Call (0571) 8707-8700 to make reservations.
'Call to Arms'
The drama is based on Lu Xun's most famous stories, "A Madman's Diary," an attempt by Lu Xun to show how feudalism destroyed many Chinese people. The drama is staged by the Wuhan-based non-profit drama club Jianghu Xiban.
Date: August 28, 2pm
'Xia Peng'
The drama, created and presented by a student drama group of China Academy of Art, tells a story of a group of college students who joined the Woodcut Movement initiated by Lu Xun in 1911. The drama will take audience on a time travel to see how a new art form helped China's social reformation. The drama is based on a real story that happened in Hangzhou.
