Successful pilot

A cross-border e-commerce pilot zone in Hangzhou will be extended to other parts of China, the Ministry of Commerce said last week.

鈥淭he Ministry of Commerce firmly supports the development of the cross-border e-commerce industry and has been actively drafting a working scheme to promote cross-border and relevant regulatory rules,鈥 spokesperson Shen Danyang said at a press briefing.

The pilot program sees Hangzhou taking the lead in setting standards on cross-border e-commerce transactions, payment, logistics, customs clearance, tax refund and exchange settlement.

By the end of October, cross-border e-commerce transactions through Hangzhou鈥檚 pilot zone totaled US$1.7 billion.
