POLICE have so far cracked 1,670 gang-related cases in Hangzhou since they launched operation “Xia An,” or “Safety Summer,” last month. A total of 50 gangs were hunted down and 102 illegal sites penalized. Police also seized 128 gambling machines and around 1 million yuan gambling money.
Among these cases, Yuhang District police had cracked six property fraud gangs and one robbery homicide case. Fuyang County police had solved 50 fraud cases and Shangcheng District police busted a prostitution ring in an upscale hotel.
Hangzhou police also hunted down a drug trafficking gang, seizing more than 10 kilograms of methamphetamine. They seized five guns and 2,000 bullets in the suspected drug dealers’ houses.
