Summit security
TO ensure security prior to and during the upcoming G20 Summit in Hangzhou, the city government has made it mandatory to check the IDs of all guests and operators of hotels, homestays and guesthouses across the city.
Guests should produce their ID upon check-in, and operators should check the authenticity of these documents. Travelers without ID should go to a police station in the area to get a temporary ID card. Travelers staying at temples will also be checked.
Those who do not comply with safety rules can be refused service. Those who use another person’s IDs to check in will be fined between 200 yuan (US$31) and 1,000 yuan.
All hotels, homestays, guesthouses and temples providing lodging should install surveillance and emergency alarm systems according to national, provincial and municipal standards.
Operators should also check safety equipment and monitor all personnel, goods and vehicles entering their area of business. All the properties to be deposited should be opened and checked.
All citizens are encouraged to cooperated with the police if they find wanted criminal suspects or fugitives, guns, explosives, illegal knives, drugs, illegal propaganda materials or hazardous substances, including poisonous, radioactive or corrosive materials. Police and community workers will also make security patrols across the city.
