QIANDAO Lake Open Water Swimming Competition will be held at Qiandao Lake Town in Chun'an County over the weekend to promote a green, healthy and low carbon lifestyle.
From today, 1,500 athletes will compete in the event. The athletes in 14 groups, categorized by age and gender, will compete in either the 1,000-meter or 2,000-meter races.
Qiandao Lake, or Thousand Island Lake, is a picturesque area and the main water source of Zhejiang Province. Covering an area of 573 square kilometers, the lake is 130 kilometers from Hangzhou.
The competition's finals will be held on Sunday.
