Swiss jazz in city
SWISS jazz band Bconnected will give a concert on a yacht on Qiandao Lake, Hangzhou, on Sunday night, with representatives from Swiss Consulate General in Shanghai attending.
It will be the first time the Swiss Consulate General has been invited to Hangzhou for a cultural event, and also the first time Bconnected, which formed in 1994, will have performed in Hangzhou.
Bconnected has six members and for many years has traveled to many countries in Europe, Asia and North Africa, bringing its own brand of music and at the same time merging elements into its work picked up from music the band is exposed to during its foreign travels.
During its previous visits in China, the band works with Chinese artists to subtly mix jazz tunes with traditional Chinese instruments such as erhu (Chinese two-stringed fiddle) and pipa (Chinese lute).
