Tasty blooms

An exhibition featuring 80 herbs and edible flowers is running at Wansong Academy of Classic Learning. Lotus, lily, roses, osmanthus, cherry blossom and gardenia are all tasty ingredients in Chinese cooking. The exhibition will run through June 23.

In addition, the academy, now a public park, is running games for kids.

The academy is a heritage site at the foot of Phoenix Hill.

It was where Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai, known as China’s Romeo and Juliet, fell in love during the Eastern Jin Dynasty (AD 317-420). Their tragic romance inspired classic story “The Butterfly Lovers.”
