Taxi fare increases

The flag-down taxi fare was increased on January 19 from 5 yuan to 7 yuan in Xiasha area.
The rate hike was due to rising costs and many cabbies quitting for better paid jobs, according to the administration of the Hangzhou Economic Development Zone in Xiasha.
Despite the raise, that flag-down fare in Xiasha is still 4 yuan less compared with downtown Hangzhou鈥檚 11 yuan.
The mileage rate is 2.4 yuan/km within 8 kilometers and 3.6 yuan/km beyond 8 kilometers. The waiting fee is 2.4 yuan per five minutes.
