Taxi fleet expansion
HANGZHOU plans to add 1,000 more taxies between now and December 31 to meet growing demand. The increase will be the largest since 2004.
The first 600 taxies will start running as early as next month and the remainder will be deployed by year end. The last time the city expanded its taxi fleet was 2011.
About 9,320 taxies are plying Hangzhou’s streets, each serving a daily average of 40 customers with an occupancy rate of 70 percent per 100 kilometers.
