TAXI booking service is proving popular since it was launched on June 1.
Between June 1 and 25, 1,583 bookings were made, of which 1,266 were handled successfully, according to the Hangzhou application center, a success ratio of 80 percent.
Shi Qingyi, the center's director, said the other 20 percent had either been canceled or passengers had got into the wrong taxi thinking it was the one they had booked. Passengers are given the plate number of the taxi that will pick them up when they use the service.
It's important for clients to make sure they wait for their cab where they arrange, said Shi.
If a passenger makes a reservation and is not there when the taxi arrives, the telephone number goes on a blacklist and he or she may not be able to use the reservation service in future.
When booking a cab for the city center, make sure you phone well in advance - calls will not be taken between 7-8:30am and 4-6:30pm. However, outside the city center the service is available at all times.
There is no extra charge for the service.
