Tech town speeds up

The development, construction and management of Zijingang Science and Technology City will be accelerated in the west of Hangzhou as its management committee was officially established recently.
The total area of the Zijingang Science and Technology City is around 21 square kilometers, consisting of mainly three parts: Xihu Science and Technology Zone, Zijin Innovation Town and Yungu Town.
The science and technology city will be part of the “Scientific Innovation Corridor” in the west of Hangzhou, covering the three districts of Xihu, Yuhang and Lin’an. In the corridor there are already two established scientific cities: Qingshan Lake Scientific City and Future Scientific City.
Zijingang campus of Zhejiang University will be the center of the future Zijin Innovation Town, which focuses on the development of information technology and intelligent manufacturing industry.
Yungu Town will be home to the Cloud Computing Industry Park and Ali Research Institute, both are subsidiaries of the Alibaba Group. The construction of Yungu Town has started, and it is expected to be completed by September 2021. After completion, it will be a national center for computing and big data, gathering at least 50,000 professionals there.
The function of the existing Xihu Science and Technology Zone will be upgraded and more parking spaces and architectures will be set up.
A scenic spot with top facilities will be built at the west of Yungu area. And visitors to Fangshan scenic area will see eight scenic sights based on the existing historical residential buildings.
The Zijingang Science and Technology City will be a hub of artificial intelligence, IT, bioscience and technology service industry with support from Zhejiang University and Xihu University, which is now under construction.
