Top 3 cancers in city

Lung cancer, thyroid cancer and stomach cancer are the top three types of cancer for Hangzhou residents last year, the Hangzhou Tumor Hospital said.
The ranking is similar to that for all of Zhejiang Province, but the number of thyroid cancer cases rose by six times last year, the hospital said.
“Thyroid cancer rose to become the No. 2 tumor for the whole population and the No. 1 tumor for women. The incidence of thyroid cancer increases with age and it has the tendency of spreading among family members,” said Luo Dingcun, vice president of the hospital.
Lung cancer is the No. 1 killer disease in Zhejiang due to smoking and air pollution, said Wu Shixiu, president of the hospital.
No. 4 to No. 10 cancers on the list are liver, nasopharynx, esophagus, colorectal, pancreatic, cervical and breast cancers.
