Top talent arrive in town

A number of top professionals have joined companies based in Hangzhou during a new round of a talent-recruitment campaign.
Ren Xiaofeng, 42, a senior principal scientist of Amazon, has joined Alibaba Seattle as the principal scientist and vice president of Institute of Data Science and Technologies, which is a core team of developing artificial intelligence technology in Hangzhou, Beijing, Seattle and Silicon Valley.
Ren, a Hangzhou native, was the team leader of computer vision algorithm team of Amazon Go.
Amazon Go store uses sensors to automatically detect what items customers have taken from or returned to the shelves. After customers have done shopping, the store will send the receipt and charge the customer鈥檚 Amazon account. And the technology of computer vision algorithm of Ren鈥檚 team plays a key role in the program.
