Tough on traffic violations
HANGZHOUTRAFFIC police launched a 10-month crackdown on traffic violations, starting on March 1.
Illegal parking, changing lanes at will, drunk driving, fake car plates and driving licenses are the main targets in the crackdown.
High-resolution surveillance cameras cover most roads in Zhejiang Province. They play a big role in identifying drivers who ignore rules on wearing safety belts and prohibiting use of mobile phones and eating while driving.
Drivers who take phone calls while driving will be fined 50 yuan and have two points deducted from their licenses. If 12 points are deducted within a year, offenders have to go to a driving school to get a new license.
The 10-month law enforcement campaign will continue to the end of the year.
