Tourism flourishes
MORE than 3.3 million overseas tourists visited Hangzhou last year, up 8.1 percent from 2011. Meanwhile, 82.3 million domestic visitors came to the city, a jump of 14.7 percent.
Last year, the city raked in 139.2 billion yuan (US$22.1 billion) from tourism, including US$2.2 billion in foreign money, a rise of 16.9 percent from 2011.
Hangzhou led other Chinese mainland cities in tourism growth with an 11.5 percent rise in total visitors and the aforementioned increase in tourism earnings.
