Traffic measures
Hangzhou authorities have taken measures to ease traffic congestion around West Lake ahead of the spring travel season.
Measures include restricting traffic to one-way on certain roads south and north of the lake and adopting the odd-even license plate rotation scheme to reduce cars in the scenic area on weekends through May 31.
The one-way traffic rule will be in effect between 8:30am and 5pm during the period. Traffic control will also be imposed on roads in central business districts and on elevated roads according to circumstances.
The West Lake area will be off limits to polluting vehicles between 8:30am and 5pm and motorists are advised to park their cars at Huanglong Stadium or Zijingang Interchange Center. Parking will be free and buses will ferry them to the West Lake area.
Buses, coaches and taxies will not be affected by the new measures, officials said.
