Traffic restrictions

THE Hangzhou traffic authority will implement an odd-even license plate system during the autumn travel season, especially for the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday, to ease the traffic burden around West Lake.

The rule will limit cars from entering the West Lake scenic area according to the last digit on its license plate. This will last from 8:30am to 5pm every day during the public holiday and weekends from September 15 to November 30.

The West Lake area includes West Lake, Liuhe Pagoda and Longjing Scenic Area.

Drivers are advised to park their vehicles at Huanglong Stadium, People's Great Hall of Zhejiang Province and Zijingang Interchange Center. Parking will be free of charge and buses will be available from there to the West Lake area.

The Mid-Autumn Festival is on September 30 this year, thus combining with the National Day holiday.

Meanwhile, West Lake scenic area will be off-limits to vehicles for tomorrow's World Car-Free Day.

The area will be closed to cars from 8:30am to 5pm, and residents are advised to take public transport, ride bikes or walk.
