Twin skyscrapers
Real estate developer Shimao Group will build 280-meter-high twin towers in Hangzhou. The towers will take the crown from the 258-meter Zhejiang Fortune Finance Center as the tallest buildings in the city.
Shimao won the project in April 2014 with a bid of 1.5 billion yuan for the land in Binjiang District, which is home to more than 30 listed companies including Alibaba, Huawei, Tencent and Netease.
A PricewaterhouseCoopers report said Hangzhou is among the top five Chinese cities in economic influence, business environment, intellectual capital, and innovation.
Shimao Group said the twin towers will look like a gateway to Hangzhou as people travel from Xiaoshan International Airport to downtown.
