Typhoon damage

Typhoon Chan-Hom caused direct economic losses of 5.86 billion yuan (US$941 million) in Zhejiang Province, officials said.

More than 1.91 million people in the province were affected by the typhoon. About 1.12 million people were evacuated.

The cities of Ningbo, Taizhou and Zhoushan were badly hit with 931 houses destroyed and 174,800 hectares of farmland flooded. No deaths were reported.

The province is now carrying out post-typhoon reconstruction and repair works.
