Urban village renovation

JIANGGAN District recently kicked off renovation work on 57 urban villages. Most of the villages are along the Qiantang River, Grand Canal, Xiaoshan International Airport and Gaoting Hill.
The project will benefit 17,400 households and free up 20 million square meters of land for new construction.
The district is home to one-third of the urban villages in Hangzhou, mostly in the Pengbu and Jiubao areas of Qianjiang New Town. Once the renovation is completed, the villages will enjoy the same facilities and services as other urban communities.
Hangzhou renovated 68 urban villages prior to 2016.
