Volunteers for G20
Hangzhou is recruiting student volunteers from 15 local universities and colleges to work during the G20 summit next year.
Recruitment started on December 10 at Zhejiang University, Zhejiang University of Technology, Zhejiang Normal University and other colleges. Students with German, French, Spanish and Arabic language skills are encouraged to apply.
Application deadline is February 1 and the first round of interviews will be held before March 9. About 4,500 candidates will undergo service training before a second round of interviews.
All recruitment work will be finished before August 27, shortly before the G20 summit will take place in the city between September 4 and 5.
Ordinary citizens can also work as volunteers at scenic spots, museums and public transport stations.
An international volunteer team was set up in the city on International Volunteer Day with more than 20 youths from countries like the United States, Russia and Italy.
Hangzhou now has 917,000 registered volunteers and 4,659 volunteer organizations. Officials said they expect about 1 million volunteers to work during the G20 summit.
