Walls decorated
AUTHORITIES in Hangzhou have completed a project to clean up and decorate over 1,800 building walls, according to the Hangzhou Urban Management Commission. Officials say the work will bring a natural beauty, and a humane touch to the city.
Wuliu Lane, a historical area in Shangcheng District beside Hefang Street, was given a romantic update as walls in the area were decorated with rose patterns and love themes.
Meanwhile, near Ding’an Road Metro Station, people can see paintings of West Lake scenery along the quiet street — all within steps of the West Lake itself.
At Caiguan Lane in Qingbo Community, people can see not only paintings but also reproductions of Chinese calligraphy works by female scholars, including Lin Huiyin (1904-1955) and Li Qingzhao (1084-1155), a female poet from Song Dynasty (960-1279).
At Hushu Community, there are paintings representing the traditional Chinese virtues of benevolence, righteousness, manners, harmony, creditability, kindness and piety.
