'What I wish for this Rabbit Year'

EVERYBODY on the street is smiling. Tomorrow the rabbit will replace the tiger to be the animal of the lunar zodiac year. Shanghai Daily reporter Xu Wenwen talks to 10 Hangzhou residents to ask about the Chinese Lunar New Year wishes.

Fang Yu

40, office worker in bank

I hope all the members of my family, including my dog Niu Niu, will be well next year. I hope there will be less pressure at work so I can enjoy myself more.

Du Longhai

29, security guard, from Sichuan Province, working in Hangzhou for one year

Since I have to be on duty during Spring Festival, I cannot spend the holiday with my family in Sichuan, but I hope I can do so in the following year. My wife is busy building a new house in my hometown but I am unable to help her. So I wish her a happy new year and hope she will be healthy and safe in this rabbit year.

Qian Lijun

18, student

First, I hope my family will be safe and sound next year. Second, I'll be a college student next year, which means I can arrange my schedule by myself. I hope I can learn French in college and study calligraphy and the flute.

Michael Chen

30, civil servant

My job is to promote the city's garbage sorting and recycling policy. I hope Hangzhou people will increasingly be aware of the importance of a low-carbon lifestyle, and learn more about "better city, better life."

Fang Jun

33, office worker, aircraft company

Generally speaking, 2010 was nice, but I don't think my colleagues and I got the annual bonuses we deserve so I hope our boss can improve the situation next year and give us more consideration.

Hong Bo

33, office worker, advertising, Chun'an District

First, I hope I can set up my own advertisement company next year. Meanwhile, I will abstain from both cigarettes and alcohol because my wife and I are planning to have a baby!

Yu Anxin

29, a blind masseur, from Wuhan, Hubei Province, working in Hangzhou for six years

Next year I am going to set up a massage business in Fuyang County, so I hope all the arrangements won't be too difficult.

Shentu Jian

66, retired

I am getting old and above all I wish for good health. Above all, I hope my 39-year-old daughter can eventually find her Mr Right and get married.

Tong Jianying

48, manager, Xiaoshan District

My animal zodiac is rabbit, and the coming year will be my benming year when lots of unlucky things may take place. So I hope the next year is safe and smooth.

Xu Xuxiang

18, student

I will take the college entrance examination next year, so I hope I will do well. I want to take a part-time job or run an Internet store and use the money I earn to learn some musical instruments.
