Wi-Fi for buses

City buses on downtown roads have started providing free Wi-Fi services to passengers. Bus companies said that about 3,000 buses will be equipped with Wi-Fi routers by the end of this year.

Bus No. 8 and No. 22 are the first to offer free Wi-Fi. A red sign on the bus shows that it is equipped with the new service. Bus riders can easily access the public Wi-Fi network with a bandwidth big enough for 60 passengers to surf the Internet at the same time, although it is not intended for downloading videos or watching films.

Hangzhou currently has 6,086 city buses in urban areas, including electric buses that have already had Wi-Fi installed.
