World Leisure Expo
China (Hangzhou) Leisure Development International Forum was held over the weekend to promote the World Leisure Expo.
The World Leisure Expo, which started in 2006, is held once five years in Hangzhou.
In 2016, Hangzhou will host the 3rd World Leisure Expo, which is expected to be “a platform that advances global leisure concepts and culture studies, stays abreast of the latest developments in the worldwide leisure industry, and addresses the leisure preferences of the citizens of every country,” said Ye Min, director of the Hangzhou World Leisure Expo Office.
The 2016 expo will showcase the leisure activities of many cities and countries in the World Leisure Case Pavilion, host a summit of leisure development in the world, and promote a tourism route in Hangzhou as a case study.
The route features suburban towns instead of urban sites to highlight the achievements of the city’s ecological establishment and its countryside tourism economy.
Last year, the city’s tourism industry took in revenue of 139 billion yuan, 16.9 percent higher than the previous year.
