Xixi Wetlands idea park to open
XIXI Creative Industry Park near Xixi Wetlands will open to the public on October 1, with a list of 14 luminaries signed up for design and studio space.
The city's 10th and newest creative park has attracted well-known authors Liu Heng and Yu Hua, painters Pan Gongkai and Wu Shanming and famous hostess Yang Lan.
John Hawkins, who is known as the "father of the creativity industry," attended the Xixi Creative Celebrities Forum last Monday.
Hawkins from the United Kingdom is founder and president of the Creation Group, which provides advice in the field of safeguarding intellectual property. Hawkins has paid considerable attention to Hangzhou's cultural and creative development. He will open a workshop in the creative park.
"I like the wetland and harmonious coexistence of human beings and nature," Hawkins said. "People gather here, cooperating and spreading creative industry."
He called the "agglomeration mode" of building creative hubs a good way to develop the industry.
Hangzhou Party Secretary Wang Guoping told the forum: "The cultural and creative industry is characterized as people plus computers plus culture. It is the golden industry in the 21st century and is typically described as the 'knowledge economy' or 'brain economy'."
Hangzhou has the human resources, environment and cultural advantages to develop creative industry, Wang says. "We have set the target of becoming the national center of culture and creative industry."
The city's creative industry facilities include Zhijiang Culture and Creativity Center, the Liangzhu Creation Center and Yunhetiandi Culture and Creativity Center.
