Yalin goes a wooing
YALIN, one of the two male pandas in the Hangzhou Zoo, left for his hometown of Chengdu in southwestern Sichuan Province on Wednesday, in order to find a partner and hopefully father a baby panda.
Yalin and fellow Hangzhou panda Shuyun came from the Chengdu Panda Base in 2011 when nearly three years old. They were just 70 centimeters tall, but now they have grown to almost 1.2 meters high.
Their keeper said that though the pandas look gentle, they are still wild animals. When they turn five or six, they become very territorial and fight invaders of the same sex.
In September, Shuyun will make the same journey to Chengdu in the search for romance.
