construction of the Zijingang Interchange has been completed at the intersection of Wenyi Road W. and Zijingang Road.

It is expected to be fully operational around the New Year holiday, although no precise date has been given by the authorities.

It is described as one of the country’s most complicated interchanges as it is the first with both elevated roads and tunnels in eastern China.

The main elevated road from north to south was opened to traffic on August 10, 2016.

Construction on the multi-level interchange started in 2015 and the whole structure was scheduled for opening by the end of this year.

The opening will help alleviate traffic jams in the west of the city.
