Readers鈥 interests branching out
THIRTY members of the Shanghai Daily Readers Club went on a spring outing last Saturday to the Shanghai Wood Culture Museum in Baoshan District to see the exhibits and try their hand at Chinese arts. They come from more than 10 countries and regions, including Mexico, Canada, Malaysia and Colombia.
At the museum, Shanghai Daily readers had the opportunity to get up close to many different types of wood in the collection — everything from furniture and handicrafts to ancient fossilized tree trunks.
In addition, readers were able to try different traditional Chinese arts, including pottery and flower arranging.
The event was sponsored by Zun Mu Hui International Art Plaza, where a festival is underway through May 18, featuring folk art such as wood collection, peony flowers and ancient buildings from Anhui Province. At Shanghai Wood Culture Museum, one of the venues under Zun Mu Hui, people can get a hand at Chinese arts like our readers club members.
