Amateurs and experts celebrate traditional opera
THIS year’s Changning Chinese Traditional Opera Art Appreciation Season, titled “I Am a Theater Fan,” opened at Changning Art Culture Center last month.
The festival, also known as Lunar New Year Theatrical Performance by People from All Walks of Life in Changning, was co-sponsored by Changning Art Culture Center, Federation of Literary and Art Circles of Changning District and Shanghai Pinli Culture Communication Co.
A number of famous opera masters also attended the opening ceremony. Shang Changrong, Chen Suping, Wang Rugang and Zhao Zhigang joined the ribbon-cutting.
First launched in 2014, the festival has been successfully held for three years.
Keeping on innovating in both style and content, the festival has developed itself into a public welfare brand benefiting the people, providing a stage where citizens can improve their level of appreciation and join theatrical performances.
The 2016 appreciation season will last until March 25.
To satisfy people’s intellectual and cultural needs, the sponsors will hold special performances, traditional opera art lectures as well as other activities.
Chinese traditional opera enjoys popularity among people in various communities in Changning. The district is full of unnoticed talent.
According to rough estimate, the district has tens of opera troupes with hundreds of participants.
The past two years’ appreciation seasons saw many participants.
This year, “Changning Opera Voice,” a program that is tailored to feature amateur traditional opera performers, will take place on the evening of March 25.
