Changning hospital opens children’s health center
A villa on Zhongshan Road W. is where the newly-established children’s health care department at Changning Maternity & Infant Health Hospital is located.
The department’s warm, comfortable interior as well as its lovely design aim to put the children at ease while they receive medical treatment.
The entirely new department provides children three years-of-age and under with regular physical examinations, diagnosis and treatment of common diseases and advisory services.
On the first floor of the three-story building, infants and toddlers can swim or take physical examinations. An indoor swimming pool is next to the gate of the building. Behind the reception room is the waiting area. Sunshine can filter through the transparent roof to the ground floor, creating a vivid atmosphere throughout the entire space. A physical examination room, expert clinic, measuring room, and a bone density/hip joint ultrasonic room can also be found here.
On the second floor is the children’s training center, which is mainly for toddlers aged one and under. Here, an infant health specialist teaches parents the right way to take care of their babies. Parents can also seek advice from doctors at the training center.
The third floor mainly focuses on new moms. A gynecology examination room, muscle strength measurement room and a recovery room for pelvic floor function are on this floor.
At present, the department has 42-day postpartum visit services, outpatient services for high-risk infants, rickets, anemia and feeding difficulties as well as specialist clinics for premature birth and low birth weight.
Since China lifted its one-child policy and allowed couple to have two children, there are more pregnancies among older couples. Proper treatment of high-risk infants has become a key focus of the department. It not only set up a screening and early intervention system, but also introduced advanced assessment tools from Europe to detect infants with developmental deviations or delays.
The department can also treat brain damage and other disabilities associated with cerebral palsy.
