Cultural stars get due at festival finale
A CONCERT marking the conclusion of the Hongqiao Autumn Culture Art Festival took place at the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra Hall on December 6.
Also during the concert, festival sponsors awarded companies, institutions, groups and individuals for their outstanding contributions to local culture and arts.
The Joy Courier Art Ensemble of the Changning Culture and Art Center received the Special Contribution Award for its 10 years of service organizing excellent public performances.
Wu Husheng, a performer with the Shanghai Ballet, along with the organizers of the “Zhang Chongren Document Expo” at the Shanghai Oil Painting and Sculpture Institute were awarded the 2015 Changning Cultural Development Special Fund by the Shanghai Cultural Development Foundation.
Centered on the theme of “Domestic and International Cultural Exchange, a Popular Festival for Community and Citizens,” this year’s Hongqiao Autumn Culture Art Festival featured over 100 shows, exhibitions and lectures, as well as over 50 shopping- and tourism-oriented activities.
About 800,000 people participated in the festival, which was intended to enrich the cultural atmosphere of the district while also harnessing, culture, commerce and tourism to promote consumption.
During this year’s festival, 21 major commercial companies of the district achieved combined sales of 1.16 billion yuan (US$179 million), up 20 percent year-on-year.
