District shuts down illegal street vendors

Street vendors can be a big nuisance in residential areas at night. They are often noisy and leave behind a big mess.

The Changning Urban Administration Bureau cracked down on such vendors in a united move across the district for the first time. In the past, law enforcement units in various residential areas and towns took only local action.

The district government built a platform for both residents and law enforcement units to make sure complaints and updated information was delivered in time.

This allowed law enforcement units in different areas to request timely support and take immediate action.

Last month, one resident reported that a group of street food vendors gathered around North Jiangsu Road every midnight. The vendors didn’t have business permits, the resident informed the bureau.

Law enforcement units were sent to swoop in and shut down the street food vendors.

“These vendors think they can escape the long arm of the law by operating late at night,” said one district law enforcement official. “But they won’t get away with it. With the help of residents, we will find them and stop them no matter where they are.”
