District to become hub for hi-tech services
AS Shanghai steps up its efforts to build a technology and innovation center of global influence, Changning District, one of the areas known for its service industry, is now working to become a crucial innovation hub.
Shen Jianzhong, vice director of Development and Reform Committee of the district, said it aims to build itself as a cradle for innovation and groom talents for tech-driven modern services.
To reach that goal, Chang-ning plans to lay emphasis on three major projects. Among them is the pilot Hongqiao Aviation Service Innovation Zone, Hongqiao fashion and creative industry cluster and the innovative hub of daily life services based on Internet Plus technology.
By far, the Hongqiao Aviation Service Innovation Zone has attracted 302 enterprises with 31 major projects on aviation services.
Huge tax revenue
Twenty industrial programs are on track, including the building of E-commerce platform on China Eastern Airlines and the upgrading services of Shanghai National Travel Service Co.
Some 11 intermediary institutions including Aviation Court of Arbitration and East China branch of China Air Transport Association have also entered deals to gain footholds in the zone.
The pilot zone has contributed a tax revenue of 2.12 billion yuan (US$US$321 million) since its establishment in May 2015.
Following efforts to attract talented people to Changning, the district has set a criteria to test its influence on the aggregation effect.
Changning has also set up a one-stop service center for foreign expatriates, simplifying procedure for various documents and applications.
Changning has attracted 67 innovative enterprises in the district by using the registration name “co-working space,” “connected cars,” “air ecology” and “supply chain management” to the highlight the district’s service sector.
“Shanghai Suhehui Co-working Space Co is the first of its kind registered enterprise to go public on Shanghai New Three Board, reflecting the support from its domicile in Changning District,” said Ni Jiahui, vice bureau chief of Market Supervisory Administration of Changning District.
