District will expand Wi-Fi network

Changning has officially launched the construction of a free Wi-Fi network known as i-Shanghai 2.0.

Construction began on the WLAN network in 2013.

To improve service, expand coverage and explore future development models for marketization, the optimization of the current network in public spaces will begin with four major changes.

The i-Shanghai WLAN network will be updated to version 2.0 and the original 112 WLAN sites will merge into i-Shanghai 2.0.

More service sites

More service sites will be added, including at UCloud, Suhehui, DOBE Cultural & Creative Industry Development Company and Shanghai Hongqiao Internet Financial World.

The network will gradually merge the wireless access points of the three major communication carriers: China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom.

The wireless coverage at Zhongshan Park and Xinhongqiao commercial districts will also be improved.

The main difference between i-Shanghai 1.0 and 2.0 is that the two-hour limit on free access will be lifted.

Users will be able to log on every day and the network will support multiple devices.

Logging onto the network will be more efficient.

While keeping the old SMS authentication for webpage logins, the new service provided by i-Shanghai will include a mobile application login option.

Thus registered users will no longer need to enter the code every time they want to use i-Shanghai.

The app has already been released and can be downloaded in major app stores.

The network already covers commercial zones, parks, hospitals, district administration offices and community centers in the district.
