New center truly 鈥榦ne-stop service鈥 for foreign talents
A “one-stop service center” for residence permits, foreign expert certificates and related documents officially has opened for business in Changning District.
The facility cannot be used for renewing visas, but its director said he hopes that such a service will be introduced later in the year.
The center, on Jinzhong Road, has been operating in trial mode since November, in which time it has helped more than 5,000 people.
It opens Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm, with a 90-minute break for lunch between 11:30am and 1pm. More information is available by calling 123-33 or 5219-7713.
On the opening day of the new center on March 21, government officials held a job fair to highlight opportunities in aviation, Internet Plus and modern commerce. More than 100 companies were present, with more than 1,700 jobs on offer for overseas talents and Chinese college students.
The companies included some of China’s big names, like Air China, China Southern Airlines, Ctrip and Digital China.
Professionals working in human resources and law experts also attended the event and offered advice for the center.
In order to offer the best possible services, Changning government teamed up with several municipal bureaus and local universities to provide combined services at the center, making it a truly one-stop experience.
Changning government carefully valued the strengths of each university in the selection process, focusing on areas like fashion, aviation, law, commerce and medical science, which plays to Changning’s preexisting strengths.
The launch ceremony was also used to encourage more university students to become entrepreneurs.
The Changning government offered three million yuan (US$461,538), Shanghai University of Engineering Science offered two million yuan, and Shanghai Technology Entrepreneurship Foundation for Graduates collected another five million yuan for a joint foundation that will support young college students in their entrepreneurial dreams.
Shanghai University of Engineering Science, for example, offered a total of 24 million yuan to support more than 120 university students become entrepreneurs in the past three years.
