Lotus flower festival to charm all senses

THE first Shanghai Lotus Culture and Art Festival and Photography Contest will run through October 25 at Shanghai Chongming Lotus Garden.
Covering an area of 560 hectares, the garden features more than 350 varieties including Plain Jane, Chardonnay, “Space Lotus” and “Ancient Lotus” from Liaoning Province as well as rare varieties from Taiwan.
The exhibition is divided into five sections and includes a “Lotus Beauty” contest, a barbecue night, a painting week and a photography contest.
Various cultural activities are being presented, including an old movie show, a traditional food fair, blind date events and Kongming lantern flying. Tourists can also enjoy a lotus-themed dinner at the garden restaurant.
