10 firms get visa access privileges

TEN foreign-funded companies have received an enterprise qualification certificate for port business visas and become the second batch of enterprises in Jiading District to enjoy a "green channel" for foreign staff to get entry visas.
At the forum to promote the district's port visa policies and also the certification granting ceremony, Brose Automotive Systems Management (China) Co Ltd, as well as nine other enterprises, was granted the honor.
Jiading government has taken the initiative in Shanghai to voluntarily offer the "green" channel for overseas companies since last year. Now 22 overseas companies can enjoy the preferential policy.
Those qualified enterprises are entitled to submit applications via the port visa website for port visas to foreigners invited for commercial activities and technical tasks by companies with urgent need. After the application is approved, foreigners entering the port can get visas with passports and application forms at the airport.
The port visa, also called visa on arrival, is an entry way for foreigners who enter China for commercial activities, trade contract signing and acceptance, device installment and adjustment and technology consultancy on emergency. They can enter China directly through a port rather than through the routine visa channel which usually takes two weeks, much faster and more convenient for foreigners than usual.
