15,000 tickets sold as residents' rally to Expo

A total of 15,000 tickets for World Expo 2010 Shanghai had been sold by 28 sales agents in Jiading District by the middle of this month.

Booking of group tickets for the event kicked off on March 27, which attracted many residents to the designated ticket agents in the district.

Shanghai Administrative Management Institute's Jiading campus was among the first batch of buyers, booking 400 tickets. School officials said the World Expo was a "one in a thousand" event not to be missed.

A worker surnamed Zhang from Shanghai Senpu Electricity Appliances Research Institute was excited upon hearing the employer had bought tickets for its workers.

"Even if the company didn't buy us tickets, we would buy them ourselves," Zhang said.

The popularity of group tickets has made many individuals envious.

Tao Luye, a local resident, said he would buy tickets for family and friends since they would be a good souvenir after Expo.

According to officials from the district's postal department, residents can buy individual tickets after July 1 at sales agents designated by the Expo organizing committee.
