500 electric cars will be on the road

A total of 500 electric cars are expected to be put into use in Jiading by the end of next year.
Among which 150 for rent will get a subsidy of 40,000 yuan (US$6,525) each for the buyers, while the rest 350 will get the owners living or working in the district a subsidy up to 15,000 yuan each for their electricity bills of two years.
This is learned form the 2013 International Forum on Electric Vehicle Pilot Cities and Industrial Development held in Jiading from May 30 to 31.
Wan Gang, China's Science and Technology Minister, attended the opening ceremony and gave the keynote speech.
The forum reviewed the electric vehicle zone or, EVZone, in Jiading and exchanged experiences in promoting electric cars among Electric Vehicle Initiative members.
Jiading became an electric car demonstration zone in 2011. So far the zone has 26 types of electric cars of 20 brands, including Chevrolet and Roewe. Altogether 800 battery-charging poles, a small battery-changing station, a gas and charging station, two hydrogen stations and a charging-change-storage station have been set up in the district.
As the first test drive center in the world, Jiading Test Drive Center has received more than 62,000 people so far. Fifty-one new energy cars have been used in the center for long-term and short-term test drives.
