A family history of excelling in traditional Chinese medicine
EVERY Wednesday Professor Wang Qingqi diagnoses diseases in Jiading TCM Hospital, and he always has a lot of patients who come because of his reputation.
Wang was born in 1944 to a traditional Chinese medicine family, six generations of his ancestors were all TCM doctors. In his childhood he gained a lot of TCM knowledge, which established the solid foundation for his future career.
In 1981, Wang graduated from the China TCM Science College and became one of the first Masters of TCM in China. The famous TCM experts Fang Yaozhong and Qiu Peiran used to be his tutors. From 1991 Wang studied with Qiu for the entire three years.
"I copied prescriptions when he diagnosed diseases and wrote on the blackboard when he gave lectures," Wang recalled.
In the past 20 years, Wang has collected and tidied all the experiences and prescriptions of Qiu in medical treatment. In Wang's eye, the uniqueness of Qiu was that he put the traditional Chinese culture into his prescription and treatment. During the years when Wang followed Qiu, Qiu always demanded he read Chinese classics such as "Gu Wen Guan Zhi," and ancient medical books such as "Shen Nong Ben Cao Jing" and "Internal Classic of Huang Di."
After receiving his own students, Wang has also made the same demands and suggested his students should combine the traditional Chine0se culture with TCM, and think and practice more, as he believed only practice and thinking could really help a doctor to understand what the books said.
Wang has also concluded three rules of longevity - eating less, trying to stay silent and doing what you like to do. He is an expert on digestive system. In 2008, Wang's TCM studio was established in Jiading TCM Hospital.
