Advertising base proves naysayers wrong
THE Sino-ADI Development Base of Advertising & Creative Industry Co Ltd in the Jiading Industrial Zone has become the first national level advertising industrial park in Shanghai and one of the few nationwide.
Since its establishment in 2007, Sino-ADI has attracted more than 1,600 advertising and marketing companies in the industry chain.
In the first quarter this year, its advertising income grew 1.5 times to 570 million yuan (US$90 million) and tax payments more than doubled to 50 million yuan, compared with the same period of last year.
Initially, many thought setting up an advertising base in Jiading Industrial Zone, which is far from the city center of Shanghai, would be "a mission impossible" because the industry needs to follow the latest fashion trends.
But officials at Jiading Industrial Zone believed that advertising firms, requiring less office space and less energy consumption, but yield larger economic output. They predicted it would be a trend of the advertising industry to move an office out of the downtown area to reduce overhead.
Meanwhile, the advertising industry is seeing design and production separated while more projects are outsourced. Thus, they said the establishment of the advertising and creative base is a timely and reasonable decision. The base has been actively participating in important events in the advertising industry to let industry insiders become familiar with it.
The New York Festivals has moved its events outside of the United States for the first time to Jiading upon receiving an invitation from the Sino-ADI in 2010.
Sino-ADI has successfully attracted a group of famous advertising companies after it raised recognition in the industry.
Automobile designing company Magna, as well as Shanghai's largest outsourcing firm, Arvato Bertelsmann, has settled in the base.
