Affordable gym opens

A 365 Citizen Gym opened to public on Guyiyuan Road in Nanxiang Town on March 1, marking the fifth of such fitness centers being set up in Jiading District. Other four gyms are in Jiading, Huating, Xuhang and Jiangqiao towns.
The gym, which is 960 square meters, has a range of membership options. A yearly membership card costs 365 yuan (US$60), or 1 yuan a day.
A three-month card is 120 yuan while a monthly card is priced at 50 yuan. There is also the option to pay 5 yuan per visit.
"The gyms must be supported by effective management," said Gao Qiujin, who works for the district's sports authority. The district government paid for the venue and fitness equipment, while the daily operations are handled by a professional company.
Such affordable gyms will be accessible in most areas of Jiading District by 2015.
