Aim is a park for every 7,000 residents

JIADING completed the construction of 14 parks between 2013 and last year, taking the total number in the district to 73.

During the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-2020), the district aims to set up another 15, including the under-construction Jiabei Countryside Park and Xuhang Park.

By 2020 there will be 88 parks in Jiading, which means a park for every 7,000 registered residents. The total number of registered residents is expected to reach 600,000 by then.

At the junction of Hezuo Road and Tianzhu Road, Ziqidonglai Sports Park opened to the public last year, providing a popular sports complex for residents in Jiading New City.

“We used to jog on the road or drive to Yecheng Primary School to use the gym. Now it only takes five minutes to the Sports Park, which is so convenient,” Huang Fanghua from Baiyin community said.

Beishuiwan Sports Park just opposite Pantuozi Park in Juyuan New Area has completed construction as well and is expected to open to the public in April. There are plans to incorporate a swimming pool.

A 500-meter-long wisteria corridor is being set up along Huancheng River, which is to the north of Dongdajie Street near Jinsha Road Bridge.

Around 300 wisteria imported from Japan will be planted on both sides of the corridor along with some sakura trees. The corridor will provide another option for people to appreciate wisteria in April and May in addition to Ziteng Park, which is always packed with visitors during peak blossom season.

Jiading is also to build Beishuiguan Relic Park on site of a water gate built in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).
